Electronic Communications Code Disclosures
Version 1.0 · Tariff Monster · for users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom
The European Electronic Communications Code (Directive (EU) 2018/1972), as implemented in the member states of the European Economic Area, and the United Kingdom's Communications Act 2003 together with Ofcom's General Conditions of Entitlement, require providers of certain electronic communications services to give end-users specific information before they use the service. The messaging features of the Tariff Monster service (the "Service") are ancillary to a business software service. To the extent any of them is treated as an interpersonal communications service under those rules, Bridgemaster Holdings LLC (the "Company") provides the information below. These disclosures supplement, and do not replace, the Terms of Service and the Privacy Notice.
1. The Services Covered
The Company sends: (a) one-time verification codes by text message (SMS) to the mobile number you give during onboarding; (b) operational messages by SMS, WhatsApp or email about your onboarding, your account, offers and quotes shared with you, and documents you sign; and (c) messages sent to you through the Service on behalf of the customs brokerage or freight forwarder you are onboarding with. Verification codes are required to complete onboarding. These are transactional messages delivered over networks the Company does not operate. The Service does not provide telephone calls, voice service or a telephone number, and it is not a substitute for a telephone service.
2. Emergency Services
The Service cannot be used to contact emergency services (112 in the EEA; 999 or 112 in the United Kingdom). No message sent through the Service reaches an emergency call centre, and the Service does not transmit caller location. Use a telephone.
3. Quality of Service
Delivery is on a best-effort basis through mobile carriers and messaging providers the Company does not control. Delivery times vary; messages may be delayed, filtered or blocked by a carrier, or fail on networks that do not support them. Verification codes expire after a short time and can be requested again. The Service is not suitable for time-critical or safety-related communications. No minimum quality-of-service level is offered or guaranteed, and the Company does not compensate for delayed or undelivered messages.
4. Prices and Charges
The Company does not charge you for the messages it sends or for verification codes. Your mobile carrier's standard messaging and data rates apply, including international or roaming rates where your number or your location is outside the United States. The Company has no control over, and no information about, those rates — ask your carrier.
5. Duration, Renewal and Termination
There is no minimum contract term and nothing renews automatically. Messages stop when you close your account, remove your mobile number from your profile, or reply STOP to a text message where your carrier supports it (features that depend on SMS, such as verification codes, may then be unavailable). Operational email is part of the Service for as long as you hold an account.
6. Switching and Number Portability
The Service does not assign you a telephone number and does not hold your number. There is nothing to port, and leaving the Service involves no switching procedure.
7. Security
Messages travel over public mobile networks and are not encrypted end to end. Never share a verification code with anyone. Neither the Company nor the organizations that use the Service will ask you for a code, a password or a full tax identifier by text message or email. Report a suspicious message through the contact mechanisms provided within the Service.
8. Users with Disabilities
The information carried by messages is also available on the Service's web pages, and operational notices go by email as well as by text where you have given both. If you need an accommodation to complete a step that relies on a text message, contact the organization you are onboarding with, or the Company through the Service.
9. Data Protection
Personal data processed in connection with these messages — your mobile number, email address, message content and delivery records — is handled as described in the Privacy Notice. Messaging providers process message data under their own terms. Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation or the UK GDPR applies to you, you have the rights those laws provide, exercised through the contact mechanisms provided within the Service.
10. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
Complaints about messaging may be raised with the Company through the contact mechanisms provided within the Service; the Company aims to answer within 30 days. Where the law of your country gives you access to an out-of-court dispute resolution body for electronic communications services, you may use it once the Company's own process has run its course. Nothing in these disclosures limits rights you have under mandatory local law.
11. Changes to These Disclosures
The Company may revise these disclosures by publishing a revised version with a new version number. Changes that affect an active account are announced by email.
12. Contact
Questions about these disclosures may be directed to the Company, Bridgemaster Holdings LLC, through the contact mechanisms provided within the Service.
